Introducing kids to great literature can be a challenge. The wording feels archaic. The books are long. The sentences are dense. And somewhere between chapter three and chapter seven, interest fades.
You want your child to experience classic stories. But instead of wonder, you get resistance. Instead of discussion, you get shrugs.
Raindrop Publishing wants to invite students into great stories, in a way that will capture their interest, spark their curiosity, and build their confidence.
We publish thoughtfully designed classics for students of various reading levels, helping them step into timeless stories with clarity, understanding, and the tools they need to truly experience them.
Becuase reading well is a skill.
And thinking deeply is a habit worth building.
Classic literature wasn’t written with modern middle school readers in mind. The vocabulary, pacing, and cultural context can create distance instead of engagement.
So parents are left wondering: Should we switch to something easier? Should I be doing more? Is my child just not a reader?
You don’t want to lower the standard. You want to raise comprehension.
A few years ago, when my oldest daughter was about 5th grade, I was so excited to share one of my favorite book series with her. It was a series that I had read three times, and wanted her to have the same experience. That series was Anne of Green Gables. I adored it. I couldn’t wait to see her fall in love with Anne the way I had.
I handed her the book with all the enthusiasm of a literary missionary. And she never read it. She tried, but it was just too wordy.
I was sad. Not because she rejected my favorite book, but because she was missing out on a great story. Then I realized something bigger. She wasn’t refusing the story. She just couldn’t get through the door. The language felt heavy. The pacing slow. The context unfamiliar. She didn’t need a different book. She needed one that invited her into the story.
Our Mission
We don’t believe kids should be handed classics and told to just try harder. We believe they should be equipped. Our mission is to invite readers into great stories through guided classics that cultivate comprehension, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of literature. If you’ve ever handed your child a classic and watched their eyes glaze over, you’re not alone. If you want them to read well and think deep, you’re in the right place. We would love to walk alongside your family as you explore the stories that have shaped generations. Because sometimes all it takes is a little guidance—and a well-placed raindrop—to help something beautiful grow.
Readers & Writers
At Raindrop Publishing, we believe something simple but powerful: Readers can be writers too. Our online magazine is a place where homeschool students (and parents) don’t just consume stories, but they create them. After spending time inside great stories, something starts to stir. Ideas form. Characters whisper. Stories take shape. Instead of keeping that creativity tucked inside a notebook, we give it a home. The Raindrop Magazine publishes: short stories, poetry, and creative nonfiction. We’re building a community where homeschool students learn that they are not just readers of great stories, they are storytellers in the making.
